Why we exist

Unknown Group was founded 17 years ago with a single mission: to support founders building solutions for the future. After years of working with entrepreneurs across the world, we learned that the best way to support founders is to create a ‘campus’ for them to work, meet and learn, the Unknown Campus.

What we do

Located in the heart of the Binckhaven in The Hague, Unknown Campus is the beating heart of the new economy. We are developing Europe's largest impact campus, over 100,000 m², where startups, scale-ups, industry, and government work side by side to turn global challenges into concrete business solutions.

Unknown Campus is a go-to-market extension of regional field labs and test facilities, we support companies transform their first products into international commercial models, through 50+ global partners and active European support programmes in energy, AI, education, and the blue economy. We currently house more than 100 startups and scale-ups, with around 800 members using the campus as their clubhouse.

Education is woven into the DNA of our Unknown Campus. We are home to our own fully accredited Unknown University of Applied Sciences, where student entrepreneurs start and grow their own businesses while earning their bachelor's or master's degree — right in the middle of established founders.

Together with partners such as Bit Academy, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, and I AM College, we offer a hybrid learning environment that can respond directly to market changes — keeping top talent in the region and helping it thrive.

A clubhouse for founders and neighbours

Unknown Campus is more than a workplace; it is the living room for impact entrepreneurship of the City of The Hague. With waterfront hospitality, sport facilities, coffee bars and in the future an open-air theatre, and over 20,000 visitors a year, we make innovation tangible for every resident in the neighbourhoud. By opening jobs and facilities to surrounding neighbourhoods, we ensure the whole city benefits from our growth.

HISTORY

Titaan (1) and the Caballero Fabriek (2), located in the Binckhorst district of The Hague, originally opened in 1953 as a cigarette factory for the Caballero brand. It played a crucial role in the city's industrial development, but by the late 1990s, the factory ceased operations due to the decline in tobacco consumption. The adjacent Titaan building, originally used for tobacco storage, has since been transformed alongside the Caballero Fabriek.

OLD ECONOMY TO NEW ECONOMY

Embracing the shift from the old economy to the new, these buildings were revitalized into vibrant centers for innovation and entrepreneurship. Today, we are building the biggest impact campus of Europe,, symbolizing the transformation of Binckhorst from an industrial hub to a future focussed ecosystem of creativity, education and business.
